So somehow I managed to lose the ability to connect to any WiFi hotspot when inside my Ubuntu. As the machine’s WiFi card works fine when inside Windows, it was logical that the problem was the drivers installed. So here’s what I did that worked.
Find the card ID:
lspci -nn -d 14e4:
Should return something like:
Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:4320] (rev 03)
This is what we’re after:

Locate the appropriate driver from the Broadcom Wireless Table found here:

Clear out the currently installed driver:
sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source
Prepare the system
Build an index of available packages:
sudo apt update
update the Ubuntu list of PCI.IDs:
sudo update-pciids
Installing the package
sudo apt install
, in my case this would be
sudo apt install bcmwl-kernel-source
There will be a prompt to disable secure boot upon the next system reboot. Grant it. After the install, proceed to reboot and again follow the prompts. It’s important to pay attention while the whole thing is booting up as you can miss the timed prompt which can just get cancelled after the time expires and proceed on its merry way and everything will just be the same as before.
