Python

Today I officially start my journey with Python. I’ve long heard from friends and colleagues who chose the Python way about the many advantages and attractive features of the language. But as I’ve always held firm, the language in which a programmer codes is a matter of personal preference. Much like an individual’s choice of shampoo or toothpaste. As a PHP developer, I’ve firmly believed that comparing PHP with Python is like comparing Star Trek and Star Wars (I read this somewhere but just couldn’t quite put my finger on it). But then there’s also no denying that trying a different shampoo could be a refreshing break sometimes.

Today I came across a pretty well-written “book” on Python. Then I thought, “what better time to try something new.” And so off I go.

In about an hour (or maybe less or maybe more) I’ve gone through the downloads and basic installations and other system and lesson prerequisites. And I’ve wrote and displayed my first series of  “Hello Worlds.”

Welcome to Python! And oh, I do enjoy both Star Trek and Star Wars. 😀
